Reiki is an ancient system of healing believed to have spread through Tibet, India and China a few thousand years ago. The Japanese minister Mikao Usui rediscovered it in ancient Sanskrit texts in about 1820 and gradually its use as a treatment has grown.

Reiki comes from two Japanese words ‘Rei’ and ‘Ki’ and is pronounced ‘ray-key’.

Reiki translates as Universal Chi (Ki is Japanese for Chi) or Universal Life Force. This is directed through the practitioner’s hands to the patient to heal the problem area. It has nothing to do with religion, faith or belief systems and can be received by anyone willing to be healed.

Reiki seichem works on the electromagnetic field (or aura) of the body. It helps to rebalance the mind, body and spirit of the person.

This is a non-invasive treatment. You will be asked to lie down in a calm and relaxed atmosphere. Your therapist will place her hands on or near your body. You may feel warmth, a breeze, a coolness, tingling or pulsing sensation.

Most people feel a sense of calm and relaxation after the treatment.
